Keller delivered a cost‑effective design‑build CFA (auger cast) piling solution for the City of Regina’s Fire Station #8.

Fire Station 8 site

The project

The City of Regina constructed a new fire station to better support the city's growing population and increase public safety. Subsurface soils consisted of clay underlain by silt, sand, and till, with sloughing conditions, requiring a deep foundation solution.

Keller proposed CFA piles as an alternative to the originally specified cast‑in‑place piles with sleeving. This approach eliminated the need for temporary casing while maintaining structural performance.

Keller installed 139 piles directly from the existing grade, which sped up installation and enabled the site to be turned over to the client sooner. Keller’s alternative solution saved the City of Regina money, reduced overall schedule impacts, and was completed earlier than the projected timeline.
