Keller provided a design-build Vibro Pier® solution for a new warehouse facility near the tip of the San Francisco Bay.
The project
Due to the potential for liquefaction-induced and static recompression settlements, a ground improvement solution was recommended to support shallow spread-type footings for the construction of a 288,000 SF warehouse and manufacturing facility.
Ground conditions consisted of medium-stiff to hard clay, sandy clay, and silts.
Keller designed and installed Vibro Piers® to mitigate the settlements associated with the proposed loads and the potential liquefaction. The final design included 544 elements installed as deep as 30 ft below working grade.
Two modulus tests were performed to confirm pier stiffness.
