Keller installed CFA piles, providing an efficient, stable foundation solution for an overhead crane system.
The project
Keller delivered foundation solutions for an exterior overhead crane system, installing 16 piles near an existing structure and within constrained site conditions.
Subsurface conditions of saturated sand and silt overlying clay till created sloughing soils and groundwater challenges, requiring a method capable of maintaining bore stability without casing. CFA (auger cast) piles were selected to enable efficient installation while minimizing disturbance and mitigating the risks associated with unstable ground.
Keller installed approximately 3.3 ft (1 m) in diameter CFA piles to depths of approximately 33 ft (10 m), adapting pile locations where necessary to accommodate site constraints, including working adjacent to the existing building and avoiding conflicts with existing infrastructure.
